Dec 2024 Updates:
ABF Strategic Shift in Education Support
2022 was our last year to provide high school scholarships to new students entering their first year of high school.

This strategic decision by the board was reached so we could continue to provide scholarships to the remaining ABF high school students as well as provide mentorship and partial funding support to the ABF students who went on to college or universities.

-
As of December 2024, the three 2022 scholarship recipients just completed their 3rd year of high school and will start their last year in high school in January 2025.
-
The three 2021 scholarship receipients just completed their high school and are awaiting to go to college.
-
We have 21 ABF Scholars who have been or are currently in colleges and universities. Out of those 21 scholars, 6 have graduated, 2 have full time jobs and 2 started their own small businesses. The other two decided to go back and get a 4 year college degree.
-
Even though we initially started ABF to support needy high school students, we realized that as they got into college, they still needed our financial support. The government provided higher education loans (HELB) but the loans were not sufficient to support their daily living and accomodation expenses. We therefore stepped in to support them financially and also increased the mentorship to enable them to be successful during college as well as after they complete their college studies.
-
One of the biggest challenges in Kenya today is unemployment and more than 50% of college graduates do not get employment after graduating.
-
We have partnered with ACE SME Foundation www.ace-sme-foundation.net a non-profit small and medium enterprises training institute that has helped to train a number of the ABF scholars, so they can start a small business.

We are committed to ensuring that there is no ABF Scholar left behind and will provide all the financial and mentorship support we can.
We thank you for your generous donations to ABF and we appreciate your on-going support.
